The English major was established in 2001. Up to now, it has cultivated more than 1,700 graduates with a total of 17 grades. The major is an English-oriented major which aims to cultivate agricultural foreign language talents who serve the construction of "the belt and road initiative" and the development needs of Yunnan Province, relying on the university’s agricultural resources and the construction of "new liberal arts". English major has been the provincial first-class professional construction site since 2020. In 2021, the course Foreign Affairs Translation has won the provincial ideological and political course construction; English Reading III, English Speech and Debate and Introduction to English Linguistics has won the first-class curriculum construction in the school, while English Reading and English Speech and Debate were the ideological and political demonstration project of the university at the same time. English major actively builds teaching teams, and all teachers are classified into teaching teams such as comprehensive courses, cultural courses, translation courses and education and teaching courses. We innovate the organization form of classroom teaching, change the traditional teaching form that one course corresponds to one teacher, trying to explore the way that multiple teachers combine together to teach the same course. We also carry out special teaching and give full play to teachers' characteristics and expertise to build a mixed curriculum teaching mode.
