Thai Major

The Thai major was founded in 2014, aiming to cultivate applied and versatile talents with international perspective and knowledge of international rules, which adopts the model of “3+1” international cooperative education. In the first, third and fourth school years, students take basic Thai language courses, public courses and professional module courses in our university, and in the second school year, they go to Thailand to continue the courses about Thai language for a year. At present, we have signed cooperation agreements with Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University and Chiang Mai University in Thailand, as well as an overseas internship agreement with GRAND TOUR AND TRADE CO. LTD.

The major has faculty with a rigorous attitude, and reasonable structure of titles, education background and age. There are 6 full-time teachers in our major, including 1 senior-title teacher, 2 intermediate-title teachers and 3 junior-title teachers, 2 of whom have master’s degree or above (2 are doctoral candidates). All the teachers own rich overseas study and working experience. We also hire a long-term foreign teacher from Thailand to participate in the teaching.

The compulsory courses offered mainly includes Basic Thai, Advanced Thai, Thai Audio-visual, Thai Oral, Thai Reading, Thai Writing, Thai-Chinese Translation, Thai Grammar, History of Thai Literature. There are also professional module courses including culture and language, agriculture, individual countries and regions.

The required study length of this major is 4 years. Students who are qualified in all subjects and complete the required credits will be awarded the undergraduate diploma and bachelor of Arts degree in accordance with the Regulation of the People’s Republic of China on Academic Degrees and the Measures for the Management of Student Registration of Yunnan Agricultural University.
